Vol. 4 – Week of June 16

Welcome back to This Week in Albany, your weekly dispatch from Washington Park Inn, where we don’t just follow the city’s energy—we sit right in the middle of it.

Here on the edge of Washington Park, the Inn offers a front-row seat to the real Albany: neighbors gathering, performers warming up under shade trees, and the rhythm of everyday life unfolding just beyond the porch. This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s part of the neighborhood fabric.

Whether you’re here for the weekend or the week, consider this your invitation to plug into the local pulse and experience Albany from the inside out.

Wednesday, June 19, 5–9 PM @ Swinburne Park - Join this free, family-friendly Juneteenth celebration featuring music, dancing, food trucks, poetry, and community vendors. Presented by The African American Cultural Center, it's a vibrant way to honor freedom and culture—just a quick drive from the Inn.

Thursday, June 20, 4:30–8 PM, Tricentennial Park - Albany’s favorite summer concert series is back! This week features a Juneteenth-themed hip-hop night with Lupe Fiasco, DJ TGIF, and Rhakim Ali. If it rains, the show moves to the Corning Preserve Boat Launch under I-787. No tickets, no fuss—just great music and city vibes.

Free outdoor movie night returns! Bring a blanket and your favorite snacks to enjoy family-friendly films under the stars. Locations vary, but all are easily reachable from the Inn. It’s the summer tradition you didn’t know you needed.

  • June 20th at Ridgefield Park // Dog Man

  • June 27th at BLM Park // Princess and the Frog

Weather Snapshot

Expect sunny skies and 70s all week—ideal conditions for walks through Washington Park, art strolls, and porch-lounging. Keep a light sweater for breezy evenings and an umbrella for Friday, just in case.

That’s your week, delivered fresh from the porch.

Until next time,

Rock steady, porch lovers,

The Innkeepers at Washington Park Inn
