December 2025 – From the Porch at Washington Park Inn
As the year winds down and snow now tops the trees in Washington Park, we’re looking back—with gratitude—and forward—with big plans.
2025 was a porchful of moments. From spring’s first tulips to October’s final cider pour, the Washington Park Inn saw it all: art festivals, jazz in the streets, late-night laughter from Lark, and quiet coffee mornings with regulars-turned-friends. We had front-row seats to every season, and we’re already dreaming of what 2026 will bring.
What’s New (and Coming Soon!) at the Inn
The Porch, Upgraded - We refreshed the best seat in Albany with new seating, better lighting, and a little more room to rock. It’s still the most beloved place at the Inn—and it’s ready for longer lounging.
Guestroom Updates - We’ve begun refreshing several guest rooms with softer linens, upgraded lighting, and improved workspace areas for our “half business, half nap” guests.
Stronger, Smarter Wi-Fi - We quietly boosted our internet infrastructure this fall to meet today’s travelers’ expectations (and binge-watching habits).
Smoother Communication - In 2026, our guests will notice quicker replies, clearer check-in guidance, and the ability to request room extras, late check-outs, or breakfast tips via SMS.
The Guest Experience Gets Smarter - We’re rolling out a few digital enhancements in the new year—think streamlined booking confirmations, more accessible self-check-in, and curated local guidebook

Albany Center Gallery’s 10x10 Holiday Show
Now through Dec 31 - Local artists, affordable pieces, creative gifts. This is your chance to take home something unique (and maybe support your new favorite painter).
A Christmas Carol – Capital Rep
Now through Dec 24- A beautifully staged annual tradition just a few blocks away. Perfect for families or anyone who wants a little Charles Dickens with their holiday cheer.
Lark Street Holiday Pop-Ups & Shopping Events
Weekends through Dec 22 -Grab hot cider and wander through Albany’s most walkable and charming local shops. Bonus: everything smells like cinnamon right now.
New Year’s Eve Downtown
Dec 31 - The city rings in 2026 with music, dancing, and champagne bubbles from Lark Street to Pearl Street. Book early if you're staying with us—we fill up fast.
Looking Ahead: Monthly in 2026
Starting in January, This Week in Albany becomes This Month on the Porch—a monthly blog full of local recommendations, Inn updates, and things we think are worth pausing for. Less noise, more neighborhood.
